Joss Whedon’s first TV writing gig ever was on Roseanne, and I’ve always been interested in going back and watching his episodes. I finally did this past week, and Adam Frucci was nice enough to put the words I wrote about them up on Splitsider for everyone* to enjoy!
(*Everyone=nerds.)

I just learned this by looking at his imdb this weekend. Of course he wrote for Roseanne, because Roseanne was/is/will always be awesome.

You know who else wrote for Roseanne? Mark Rosewater, head designer for Magic: The Gathering.

Erinyes (ih-RIN-ee-eez), the temptresses.  Though low in the ranks of the tacticians of the Blood War, they serve a second function: the corruption of the faithful, the subversion of honest, devoted mortals to the cause of Hell.

Barbazu, the bearded devil.  Bred for combat and combat alone, these elite shock troops are the most violent and chaotic of the Baatezu.  Wounds inflicted by their saw-toothed glaives continue to bleed far longer than those of earthly weapons.

Abishai, gargoyles of the Nine Hells.  In ascending order of station, there are three colors of Abishai: black, green, and red.  They are common throughout the first and second layers of Baator, and delight in torturing the lesser inhabitants therein.

Spinagons, the eyes and ears of the dark lords of Baator.  Though their high pitched giggling and cackling and overall weakness in combat greatly annoys other, more powerful devils, these spies of the Baatezu serve an important role in the hierarchy of Hell.
